The majority of regular festival-goers will agree there’s barely anything that can compare to the amount of positive energy one can exchange with others by attending this sort of events. And the Old Continent is famous precisely for these – a crazy amount of amazing music feasts that were initially organized in order to cater to fans of different types of music. Still, we believe everyone should take the full advantage of their European trip. Just look at the bikers, for instance – they aren’t afraid to hop on their favorite vehicle and explore new exciting routes without missing a chance to get familiar local biker dating scenes along the way, right? And, let’s face it, spring and summer are ideal to enjoy both a vacation and a potential romance…accompanied by the sounds of our favorite music, of course!
Either way, these are, in our opinion, 5 festivals in Europe that you should definitely consider visiting this year, in no particular order.
#1 Rock am Ring & Rock im Park
Location & Date: Mendig and Nürnberg, Germany, 1-3 June 2018
Headliners: Foo Fighters, Muse, Thirty Second to Mars, Gorillaz
If you dig rock, these two sister festivals taking the place in Germany in late spring might just be your cup of tea. During the festival, Nürnberg is usually the home to thousands upon thousands of fellow headbanger tourists, which makes the atmosphere ebullient yet friendly. The lineup is usually amazing, and this year’s selection of performers is not an exception whatsoever.
#2 Sziget Festival
Location & Date: Budapest, Hungary, 8-15 August 2018
Headliners: Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, Mumford & Sons, Liam Gallagher, Lykke Li, Parov Stelar, Gogol Bordello, Goo Goo Dolls.
Sziget is considered to be the Burning Man of Europe and this is not a coincidence at all since the festival is famous for its one of a kind atmosphere that easily captivates all your senses. The diverse music lineups, on the other hand, are what makes visitors come back every year to the Obuda Island for their well-deserved dose of fun.
#3 EXIT Festival
Location & Date: Novi Sad, Serbia, 12-15 July 2018
Headliners: Adam Beyer B2B Ida Engberg, Richie Hawtin, Ziggy Marley, Dog Eat Dog, Grave Digger and more TBA.
EXIT gained its fame due to a considerable number of electronic, pop, indie and rock bands that have played here for the last 18 years. The festival is also attractive for taking place in a beautiful historical core of the city – an old fortress which is situated on the picturesque hill just above Danube river.
Location & Date: Boom, Belgium, 20-22 and 27-29 July 2018
Headliners: Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Carl Cox, Hardwell, Tiësto, Adam Beyer, Ida Engberg, Richie Hawtin
Tomorrowland is easily one of the best electronic music festivals not only in Europe but in the entire world, where a visitor can indulge in some of the best EDM acts and performances taking place on hypnotizing stages that were designed with a sole purpose of bringing you to an entirely different reality. Incredible pyrotechnic effects that come as a perfect addition to the sound of your favorite tunes, on the other hand, are just a cherry on top.
#5 Hellfest Open Air
Location & Date: Clisson, France, 22-24 June 2018
Headliners: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Avenged Sevenfold, more TBA
This festival is held every year in Pays de la Loire region of France and has hosted many prominent names from the world of rock, metal, and punk so far, continuing to justify its reputation as one of the best rock festivals in this part of Europe. And while the devilish lineups keep dominating the numerous stages on the festival grounds from year to year, the surrounding areas of Clisson are divine indeed and can be a true sight for sore eyes, especially on festival mornings.
